AXL ROSE Could Be Kept In Jail Until Friday
Update: AXL ROSE Could Be Kept In Jail Until Friday - June 27, 2006
GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose could be kept locked up for up to
three days by Swedish prosecutors before a court order will be
required in order to hold him for a longer period.
"The reason I've decided to keep him locked up is that there's a risk
that he'll disappear, and then we won't be able to have a trial,"
prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad told The Local.
"There is a possibility that there could be a hearing this evening,
and I could decide to drop the decision to keep him in custody, but we
have not reached that point yet," he told The Local at 5:30 p.m. CET
on Tuesday (June 27).
Axl Rose was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly biting a security
guard in the leg at his hotel, police said.
The GUNS N' ROSES frontman was ordered held in jail by prosecutors on
suspicion of attacking and threatening the guard, as well as causing
damage to the Berns Hotel where the alleged scuffle took place, said
police spokeswoman Towe Hagg.
It was unclear what caused the fight, but Swedish tabloids said the
guard tried to intervene when Rose started arguing with a woman -
allegedly his own assistant, according to Expressen - in the hotel
lobby.
If he is found guilty of violent conduct he could face up to four
years in prison, the police spokesman said. If Rose were convicted of
a misdemeanor, he would face up to six months in prison or a fine.
GUNS N' ROSES were scheduled to perform in Oslo, Norway, on Wednesday,
but it was unclear whether the concert would be canceled, concert
organizer Ema Telstar spokeswoman Catarina Oscarsson told the
Associated Press.
Oscarsson said the band wasn't traveling with a publicist and would
not comment on the arrest.
