.:: First time I saw Tracy ::.

The first time I saw Tracy Conover! It was on Sunday October 5, 2003 in Fort Worth during this annual Stevie Ray Vaughan ( SRV) ride and concert tribute at Billy Bob's Texas. I just moved in Texas at the end of August 2003 and I am a BIG SRV fan, so when I heard about this tribute show in Fort Worth I decided I wanted to go.

There was a couple of artists on the show, I didn't know any of them, except Doyle Bramhall that I knew from an interview about SRV. Anyways, the first 2 acts were amazing, great texas blues with impressive guitar playing like I enjoy to see. Then the 3rd artist to go on stage at Billy Bob's Texas was a chick named Tracy Conover that I never heard of before. I had a feeling it could be good since it was a SRV tribute show but I wasn't really expecting what I would see.

I saw this slim good looking woman getting near the stage with a guitar case so I thought it might be her, and it sure was! Soon after she was starting playing and it was just so great! I didn't know any of her songs and it's never easy for me to really enjoy new stuff but Tracy Conover's music was just so good, I loved it. Her voice and her guitar playing was very emotional and it just touched me.

Speaking of guitar playing, she was totally amazing for that!!! I don't want to sound macho or anything but really before that day, I've never heard a girl really amazing on guitar, even for guys, I'm very picky, I don't like so many players, but I really love the best ones like Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher or Roy Buchanan. And Tracy Conover just ROCKS! She can play extremely fast but she's not trying to do a shredding show like some other annoying guitarists, she just makes sure the songs are great and she plays with a lot emotion and it was so great. And on the most rocking songs she just go crazy on the guitar and does some unbelievable things that you'd only expect from guys like Stevie Ray Vaughan. A few times during her show me and the people around me would just look at each other with that "Holy Fuckin' Shit, how the hell does she do that!?" kind of look! By the way, Tracy plays with a solid rythm section: Charlie Fountain on drums and Roger Tausz on bass, thanks guys for making this possible.

After her show I immediately bought the CD she had for sale there and I got it signed by Tracy Conover herself. She was very nice, spending a long time near the stage signing many CDs for many amazed fans and taking pictures with them. I also got a picture with her and she looks so good in it! I also took some great photos of her live that you can see on this site.

After Tracy Conover, the 'main act' came on stage (Doyle Bramhall's band) but, although they were great, I just couldn't stop thinking about how great was Tracy! After a few songs I returned home, with the CD of Tracy Conover playing at maximum volume in my car

And that CD is actually amazing!

Something I really appreciate about these songs is that they are wonderful, I mean, yeah, she can play like crazy with her unusual guitarist talent but it's not just a "hey look at how fast I can play" guitar show, her main goal was to compose great songs and perform them with a lot of emotion, and she's definitely good at doing that, just like the great guitarists like Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Roy Buchanan or Slash.
