.:: Tracy Conover pictures: Griff's and Poodie's, March '06 ::.

I drove the "Dallas-Houston-Austin-Dallas" Triangle again to witness 2 awesome Tracy Conover shows this weekend. And I avoided a weekend of 8 inches of rain in Dallas. First show was Friday night at Griff's in Houston for the St.Patrick's mega party, this place was packed, over 1000 people, it was insane. Tracy was the headliner of that thing and she delivered, despite the extremely hot and humid conditions in that place (you can tell from the photos!). It became a tradition for Tracy to play there for the St.Patrick's party. The excellent Sam Massey joined Tracy Conover on stage for a bunch of songs, playing great solo and singing a couple of tunes, its always a bonus when he shows up, a great friend of Tracy and very talented.
Then on Saturday night Tracy Conover performed at Poodie's Hilltop bar & Grill again, a nice bar owned by Willie Nelson's road manager Poodie Locke, a huge fan of Tracy. Once again Tracy was the big star of the night so she played last, unfortunately there was two bands before her (that's too much) and the live music started way too late, the result being very little time for the opening bands and a late start for Tracy. The good thing is that Poodie's was the official post-Willie Nelson bash; Willie was playing a few miles away and after the show tons of fans showed up for more live music, so the place really became PACKED around the time Tracy finally got on stage. Interestingly, Nick Travis was playing bass that night, he played with tracy a lot in the past (and still does these days) but it was my first time seeing them playing together, he did a great job and it was pretty cool the way he plays "Calvin's", totally different from Roger but really great. They did one intense 2h set and judging by how loudly the audience responded, it's safe to say that they adored Tracy Conover; but don't we all do?!
