It's been a while since I saw Tracy but I finally did last weekend. She was playing at the Freeport Blues Festival in Freeport, TX, right next to the Gulf of Mexico. This was an outdoor thing and it was very scary getting there all the way from Dallas when I ran into this major storm just 5 miles away from the festival. Luckily we didn't see a drop of rain over there. It was warm and muggy but no rain.
Tracy played for around 75-90 minutes, a little more than she was allowed to! When it was time to stop she was like "no way, I didn't play Goin' Down yet!" and she kept playing for another 10 minutes. Her show was just perfect. There was some kind of biker component to that festival deal so she made sure to play some great Hendrix tunes, the crowd just loved it and they bought a decent amount of merchandise during and after the show. Red House was particularly great. Leyland Parks was playing bass, doing a great job as usual, and the good ole Charlie Fountain was also there of course, he even played a nice drum solo in a middle of a song.
And I could not conclude without thanking the band and the organizers for the generous offer of a free hotel room down there and free access to the parking and beer backstage! Here's some photos of that evening:
