Tracy Conover had a busy Saturday this past weekend, playing at Dan
Electro's guitar bar in the afternoon and in the evening.
First, the afternoon, Tracy and several other female performers shared
the stage for almost 4 hours as "The daughters of guitarzilla", which
was broadcast live on KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston from 3pm to 6pm (Joe's
Roadhouse show). The show started without Tracy, Carolyn Wonderland
played a couple of songs with drummer Veronica Butler (I think) and
Vickie Logan on bass. After that Tracy replaced Wonderland and was
also joined by Allison Fisher (Once again, I think that's her name).
They played a couple of blues covers that Tracy commonly does and also
Bye Bye Baby. After that Tracy took a break and Wonderland came back
on stage joined by "Marina" from the band "Guppies From Outer Space".
Marina opened with a very very cool cover of "All along the
watchtower", pretty unique. Then after a few songs these girls took a
break except Vickie Logan who was the only bassist in the house, so
she stayed and played for Tracy and Marina, and they were joined on
drums by Jessica Zwee on drums. To bad this last segment was not live
on the radio (past 6pm) because it was great.
Then after a dinner break, Tracy returned on stage around 10pm joined
by her boys Charlie Fountain and Leland Parks and they played around
90 minutes. Terri Green started the show playing with Tracy, this guy
is good, and he never seems to be far from Dan Electros! He stayed for
2-3 songs then Tracy played with her band for the remaining of the
show until the last song when she had a big surprise. She started
playing "Goin' Down" and while she was playing the introduction,
"Spud" was helping some guy plugging Green's guitar into one of the
amplifiers and it took Tracy a long time to notice that there was a
special guest on stage, but when she did she recognized a old friend
of her: Vince Converse previously from the band Sunset Heights. They
played an explosive version of Goin' Down together, trading guitar
solos and rocking the house, it was very fun. Then Carolyn Wonderland
was scheduled to play after that but I didn't stay for that.
It was a great afternoon and evening and Dan Electro's was really
packed for both events. It was well worth the trip from Dallas. Below
are some photos from the concerts:
